The Mexican Perspective on Immigration
May 23-26, 2007
Ten U.S. journalists took part in a conference on "Immigration: The Mexican Perspective," sponsored by IJJ on May 23-26, 2007. After discussions with officials, cultural figures and journalists in Mexico City, they traveled to Michoacán state. They saw firsthand the effect of out-migration and the impact that remittances from migrants in the U.S. can have on rural towns.
The conference was supported by a grant from the Ford Foundation to the Institute’s Justice and Journalism Fund.
