A 21st Century Criminal Justice System for Los Angeles:
A Look at the Present, a Model for the Future
and a Blueprint for Media Coverage
January 22-24, 2008

Many thanks to our participants and attendees for contributing to a successful conference.

This three-day conference examined strengths and weaknesses of L.A.’s criminal justice system, ideas for improvement and journalistic approaches to covering the complexities of crime and punishment. Civic leaders, policy makers, criminal justice practitioners, judges, scholars, advocates and community service providers shared ideas for a unified, collaborative approach to the entire system, including the prevention of gang and youth violence, rehabilitation of prisoners and reentry.
The conference was funded in part by a grant from The California Wellness Foundation.
