Galia Garcia-Palafox is an immigration reporter for Rumbo de Houston, one of four Spanish language newspapers owned by Meximerica Media. She covers welfare, education, and immigration issues of the Hispanic community. Before joining Rumbo she freelanced for New York Newsday and worked five years for Mural, a Reforma Group paper in Guadalajara, Mexico. She has a law degree from Universidad Panamericana in Guadalajara, and a M.S. from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she was a Fulbright and a Maria Moors Cabot scholar.
