Judi Villa works as a senior reporter covering crime and public safety issues. Since joining The Republic in 1993, Villa has written extensively about police and firefighters, criminal justice trends, victims and prisons. Villa was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for a story she wrote in 2001 about a child drowning, and she has won numerous state awards for beat reporting and feature writing. Villa is a 1992 graduate of Arizona State University. She is married to her high school sweetheart and has two daughters.
