Claudia Salinas is a staff writer with the Monterey County Herald in central California. She has reported about the Latino community for more than 10 years in South Texas, Los Angeles and Northern California, and her work has appeared in Mexico City’s La Jornada and El Financiero, and in Latina and El Andar magazines in the United States. She’s won several awards, including the New California Media award for feature writing in 2001.
