Racial Justice Fellows, 2005-2006

Kimbriell Kelly
Investigative Reporter
Chicago Reporter

Kimbriell Kelly investigates issues of race and poverty for The Chicago Reporter magazine after being awarded the 2004 Robert R. McCormick Tribune Minority Fellow in Urban Journalism. Previously she worked as an adjunct professor at Roosevelt University while reporting for the Daily Herald newspaper in Arlington Heights, Ill., where she served as a founding member of its Diversity Committee. She has discussed her work on Chicago Public Radio and her research has appeared in the Chicago Sun-Times, the Chicago Defender and on the local NBC affiliate. She graduated cum laude with a B.A. in English from St. Xavier University, Chicago in 1997 and with an M.S. in Journalism from Boston University in 1998 as a GenCorp scholar. A native of Chicago’s South suburbs - Riverdale, Calumet City and Olympia Fields - she has also lived in Monroe, Louisiana.
